3D IMPORT: solid model importing is finally here

Hurco released the 3D Import feature at IMTS 2018 and it was a huge success.

The solid model import function of 3D Import not only gives the programmer the ability to easily program 3-axis conversational features, but it will also automatically create the necessary Transform Plane blocks to program 5-sided features on a 5-axis machine.

Last Oct 2018, Hurco (S.E Asia) hosted a Technology Seminar organized by Hoffmann Group Asia Pacific, in collaboration with MasterCam and AirTurbine Tools.

At this event, Hoffmann featured their range of GARANT TPC milling cutters and Xpent 5-axis vise on the Hurco VC500i Cantilever 5-axis machining center. Using a simultaneous 5-axis tool path programmed by MasterCAM, the new Garant Parabolic Performance Cutters demonstrated how PPC can reduce cycle time and improve surface quality using a simultaneous 5-axis Tool Path. The dynamic cutting display with “flying chips” of the block definitely attracted the attention of the guests..

International Metalworking News Asia recently having a close-up features of Hurco (S.E. Asia) Pte Ltd’s open house in Singapore. This open house comes on the heels of the company’s 50th anniversary celebration. General Manager Wai Yip Lee shares the company’s resilience, innovation, and commitment to customer service, which remained at the forefront of the company’s goals.

“This celebration has been a perfect event in showcasing our 5-Axis Machining centers: VC500i and VMX42SRTi and new 3D Print head attachment” stated Lee Wai Yip, General Manager of Hurco SEA

The VC500i Cantilever 5-axis machining centre features a multiple part set-up, with single datum reference on the TRIAG Sputnik II. This demo showcases the important features of a “Real” 5-axis controller and dispels the myth that you cannot machine more than one part on a 5-axis machine in a single set-up.

The VMX42SRTi swivel head 5-axis machining centre, now features a direct torque motor B-axis with maximum feed of 90 rpm to tackle demanding applications. The demo features the machining of a bespoke car rim that programmed and tested in-house by Hurco Application Team as a turn-key project for our customer.
