TIMTOS x TMTS 2022 launches its very first ground tour, centered on “Smart Manufacturing", which covers four sub-topics: Machine Tool Ecosystem, Precision Processing, Automation and Smart Manufacturing. The onsite event guided tour is many things to many people, while various attendees view the tour as a glorified demo and learning location, it is so much more than that.
The tour is a perfect way to see the complete machine tool ecosystem portfolio. It is also an opportunity to ask insightful questions to see how your company might benefit from any new technology. Or maybe you have a technical challenge and want to pick the brains of the experts to see the best way to resolve it.
Here is a rundown of the products featured during the first round of the tour:
On the machine tool front, Japan-based Mazak presented its iconic product: INTEGREX i-250H S, which is a multi-tasking center that delivers the highest level of single-setup part-production versatility of a high-powered turning center and full-function machining center combined. As one of the biggest machine tool manufacturers, Mazak also answers the demands for digital twin. Its MAZATROL SmoothAi control and associated software packages deliver powerful digital enhancements that add efficiency and value throughout the machining process with the power of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and advanced data management technology.
To address the high-performance aspects of laser cutting machines, German company TRUMPF explained the benefits of its 3D laser cutting products, which provides beam sources and components for beam guidance, as well as complete machines and systems containing optimally coordinated components. The company also discussed TruPrint 3000 metal 3D printer with two 500-watt TRUMPF lasers in the full-field multilaser.
Meanwhile, Shinbu, distributor of Mitsubishi in Taiwan, disclosed the MX600 that sets a new standard in wire erosion with the known reliability of Mitsubishi Electric; and automatic wire threading – equipped for any ¬situation. Shinbu also showed the ML3015eX F40 Laser cutting systems of the eX-F Plus series based on fiber optic technology are ideal for the precise machining of thin carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
Waterjet is an environmentally friendly technology used to cut accurately any materials with ultra-high-pressure water, and here U.S.-based OMAX demonstrated the OMAX 5555 Jet Machining Center with a max pressure of 60000 psi. It could apply on any materials with no high temperature issue, and thickness limit. The company also exhibited the ProtoMAX, though compact, this waterjet delivers 30,000 psi cutting power with a 5 hp pump, suitable for prototyping, educational applications, or larger machine shops.
Other notable machine in the exhibition floor is Sodick’s injection molding machine, GL30-LP, with a max speed of 1300|800|500. This machine takes only 0.01 second to achieve max speed. Another machine is the PF300S Electron-beam irradiation that combines precision and surface strengthening in one process. The import of this machine is controlled by the Japanese Government.
Talking about five-axis machine tools, German company CYTEC is a proven partner for high mechanical engineering experience. It possesses technical know-how and creativity gained over decades of working in the machine tool industry. Its solutions are suitable for large workpieces, such as in aerospace industry with flexible tool-changing, either for high twisting force or rotational speed.
Machine tool importer DKSH is a distributor of machines from the U.S. and Europe. Its 162-year history proves that the company is a reliable importer in Asia. One of the products DKSH presented at the show is STUDER’s S33 CNC universal cylindrical grinding machine for the individual, small-batch, and large-scale production of short to long-sized workpieces.
For many attendees TIMTOS x TMTS is all for learning new technologies and making connections. It is easy to get lost in the moment and miss out on what you want to see. With so much going on at the exhibition it is hard to keep on top of your agenda, to know what is happening, where and when. All the machines presented here are important in the next level of technology excellence. A visit to the exhibition will impress you with the vitality and enthusiasm on innovation on the high-tech island.
